NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Rainfall chances are slowly declining in the New Orleans area after nearly two weeks of wet weather.
Overnight, skies will be cloudy with a 30% chance of rain and humidity, with temperatures in the upper 70s.
This pattern will continue on Sunday, with mostly sunny skies in the morning and a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to rise to around 90 degrees on Monday.
Although there is a chance of rain, it is expected to move through the area quickly and not stay in one place for too long. However, saturated ground means even moderate rainfall can cause minor flooding in low-lying areas.
Weather patterns are expected to change early next week. This will reduce the chance of rain, with the chance of showers and thunderstorms dropping to 30-40% at the start of the new work week.
As the week progresses, expect mostly sunny skies with intermittent showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. Daily highs will be in the low 90s and nighttime lows will be in the upper 70s.
