WESTCENTRAL, OHIO — The National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, emphasizes that there is a slight risk of isolated severe storms in west-central Ohio today. The chance of severe weather is low, but residents should remain alert for the possibility of strong winds and hail.
Regional radar showed multiple convective meteor clusters moving southeast along an east-west cold front, according to the National Weather Service. Advanced surface heating of these clusters leads to instability in warm regions with MLCAPE values approaching 1500 J/kg. This growing instability is expected to support further development of frontline storms.
Effective overall shear remains stronger to the north behind the front, resulting in a generally weaker shear environment, suggesting the storm may remain chaotic. However, low-level lapse rates around 8.5 C/km may still promote some intense cells capable of producing severe weather. Residents should pay close attention to weather updates and be prepared for any severe weather warnings.
