Rainfall forecasts and drought
There's less good news, although it's likely to rain again this week. Next week's rain is trying to bring at least a little benefit to everyone, but the minimal rainfall in the driest parts of our region is concerning. Here's how drought could lead to more droughts, with the western parts of our region expected to receive the least rainfall:
Western Washington, D.C. is already the driest part of our region and the decline in rainfall continues. As you can see in the latest drought chart below, our region's Interstate 81 corridor and mountains are experiencing extreme drought, the second-worst drought in the region. However, conditions along and east of Interstate 95 have improved recently.
We'll cover that on tonight's show and look ahead to this week's weather Sunday Sunset Live Q&A on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and X! Our 20-minute chat begins at 8:23 p.m.
