The state is starting to get drier this weekend. Today we are seeing another active stormy afternoon. These storms will weaken again tonight and storms will return Sunday afternoon. However, Sunday will be noticeably dry, with just a few storms in southwestern New Mexico.
Storm chances remain low and will continue into early next week, but a few afternoon storms will still develop, especially on some peaks in the western and central New Mexico mountain ranges. Temperatures will also warm up next week, with temperatures reaching the 90s and into the triple digits Tuesday afternoon. A more traditional monsoon pattern will also begin to develop by the middle of next week, bringing a higher chance of afternoon storms. Widespread high temperatures in the 90s and triple digits are expected next Wednesday and Thursday.
