Insights > Entergy Arkansas Storm Update – 5/29/24 11:30am
May 29, 2024
Crews continue to work to restore power to Flippin.
Multiple storms swept through the state on May 24 and 25, causing massive power outages, collapsed power transmission structures, broken power poles and caused significant property damage.
Entergy Arkansas began work as soon as the storm passed and has restored approximately 47,000 outages. Multiple tornadoes have been confirmed in northwest Arkansas, causing widespread damage. In addition to broken utility poles and downed wires, substations and transmission structures were damaged, many of them in hard-to-reach areas. The Flippin service area was the most affected, suffering extensive transmission damage.
Entergy Arkansas would like to express our sincere gratitude to those who worked around the clock to safely restore power. Nearly 1,000 workers – including Entergy Arkansas vegetation crews, scouts, contractors and mutual aid resources from out of state – have been working on site. Restoring power as quickly and safely as possible is our top priority, and we appreciate your patience.
In keeping with our commitment to powering our customers' lives every day, our crews are rebuilding the system with thicker, sturdier poles. In some cases, concrete poles are used to improve system infrastructure and make it more resilient.
