Former poll strategist Prashant Kishor said the date when Jan Suraaj became a party coincided with Gandhi Jayanti.
Former election strategist Prashant Kishor on Sunday said his Jan Suraaj campaign will become a party on October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti and contest next year's Bihar Assembly elections.
Kishore was speaking at Jan Suraaj's “national seminar” attended by several figures, including two former legislators and the late socialist icon Capri ·The granddaughter of Karpoori Thakur, she also joined the campaign.
“As mentioned earlier, Jan Suraaj will become a political party on October 2 and contest next year's parliamentary elections. Other details, such as who will lead the party, will be decided in due course,” said the man who launched the movement two years ago. Kishore said.
He welcomed the entry of Jagriti Thakur, whose father Virendra Nath Thakur is the former chief minister of Bihar and Bharat Ratna The youngest son of the award-winner Karpoori Thakur.
Notably, the late Thakur was considered a mentor to many senior leaders in the state, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad.
Thakur's eldest son Ram Nath Thakur is a JD(U) MP and Union Minister of State.
Other prominent names joining Jan Suraaj include Monazir Hasan, a former Bihar minister who was associated with the RJD and JD(U) and served in the Assembly and state legislature for many years term.
Other notable inductees include former RJD MLC Rambali Singh Chandravanshi, who was recently disqualified from the Legislative Council for indiscipline, and former IPS officer Anand Mishra, who resigned hoping to get votes from the BJP but was disappointed with the people of Buxar House polls raised objections.
Another contestant is Priyanka, daughter of JD(U) leader Mangani Lal Mandal, a former MP and former MP.
Kishor, the founder of political consultancy firm IPAC, first came to prominence in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls under Prime Minister Narendra and achieved great success.
He also worked for Nitish Kumar in the 2015 assembly elections. Kumar was impressed by his intelligence and inducted him into JD(U) in 2018.
Kishore, who is in his 40s, gave up political consultancy after the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, which saw his client Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee overwhelmingly remain in power.
In 2020, Kishore launched a campaign called 'Baat Bihar Ki' in his hometown, but the campaign got embroiled in a copyright case and was ultimately shelved.
