Acadiana is caught between a low and high pressure system, with Gulf moisture exacerbating showers and thunderstorms tomorrow. Dry air over the Great Plains is expected to reach Acadiana next week, leading to reduced rainfall activity. However, scattered showers and storms are still expected to occur during the remainder of July.
There is a 70% chance of showers and storms tomorrow, but the good news is that the chance of rain will drop next week.
In addition to less rain chances, temperatures will climb back into the 90s. A heat advisory may be required as heat index values are expected to reach triple digits. From August 4 to 10, temperatures are expected to be above normal across the country.
In addition to reduced rainfall opportunities and the return of summer heat, the tropics are also becoming active again. There will be a disturbance in the Atlantic Ocean, with a 30% chance of forming in the next few days. A tropical depression may form. There are currently widespread areas of unorganized showers and storms that will eventually move into the Greater Antilles next week.
