Deadly, severe storms wreak havoc on Gulf Coast
From tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail to flooding, the Gulf Coast was battered by dangerous thunderstorms on Monday. Severe weather was reported from Texas to Florida. Some of the most widespread damage occurred in southwestern Louisiana, where a possible tornado moved through Lake Charles, causing damage.
About 80 miles east of Lake Charles, at least one person died as a result of the storm in St. Martin Parish, a suburb of Henderson, Louisiana. At least two buildings in the parish suffered roof damage, according to local storm reports received by the National Weather Service.
Severe weather possible in Florida and Georgia on Tuesday
The storm that caused damage in Texas and Louisiana moved east overnight and could cause severe weather in Florida and Georgia on Tuesday. Damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes are all possible.
Potential tropical trouble is brewing in the eastern Pacific
Wednesday marks the official start of hurricane season in the eastern Pacific, and conditions are already emerging in the basin that are causing concern. In about two weeks, the Atlantic hurricane season begins on June 1.
