For most of July we withstood the worst of the summer heat, but that's no longer the case.
The hottest stretch of our summer so far is here.
What's the weather forecast for Monday, July 29th?
The heat and humidity will get too high on Monday, so start hydrating now! Highs climb into the mid-90s today, but heat index values will be well above 105 and near or above 110 in some locations.
“Rinse and repeat” will be the theme this week as heat and humidity values continue to remain stable, if not worsen. High temperatures will climb into triple digits across much of the Green Country on Tuesday and Wednesday, with those dreaded heat indices near or above 110 again.
How is the weather this week?
The high temperatures this week are likely to intensify on Thursday and even Friday, with temperatures likely to top 100 degrees in most areas. The front will likely be very weak late Thursday into early Friday, which could bring a few showers to the Green Country. This front may be enough to push our highs back into the mid-90s this weekend, but unfortunately, it won't bring significant relief.
Guys, the dog days of summer are here! Take extra care over the next few days to stay hydrated and pace yourself.

EMSA Thermal Safety Tips:
- Prehydration is key to preventing heat-related illnesses. Drink plenty of water or electrolyte-replenishing drinks before and during prolonged exposure to summer heat.
- If working outdoors, wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, and rest in the shade.
- Contains no alcohol or caffeine.
- If you don't have air conditioning, find a cooling station or public space during the day (such as a library or mall).
- Don't limit the use of air conditioning.
- If working outdoors, use a buddy system and check on older neighbors.
- Keep your phone with you at all times when you are outdoors, including while walking, running errands, doing yard work, or during sports and physical activities.
