Mumbai News Live: Light rain hits the city
Light rain continued in the city during the past 24 hours, with IMD's Colaba station receiving 1 mm of rainfall, while the Santa Cruz Observatory recorded 9 mm of rainfall from Sunday to Monday morning till 8:30 am.
According to BMC data, the eastern suburbs have the highest rainfall, with an average of 13 mm, followed by the western suburbs (11 mm) and Daocheng (2 mm).

Mumbai News Live: Mumbai HC summons Ravindra Waikar over Anmol Kirtikar’s election petition
The Bombay High Court on Monday issued summons to Ravindra Waikar of the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Amol Kirtikar's election petition seeking cancellation of Waikar's election victory as a member of the Mumbai Assembly from the North-West Lok Sabha constituency.
A single-judge bench of Justice Sandeep V Marne issued summons to Waikar to appear before him on September 2 to answer the claims made by Kirtikar in his plea.

Police investigate murder of 20-year-old woman found near Ulan train station; victim's father accuses revenge killing
A murder investigation has been launched in Navi Mumbai after the body of a 20-year-old woman was found near Ulan railway station.
The victim left the office early on Friday and is believed to have been killed between 3:30 and 4:30 that afternoon.
Multiple police forces are actively pursuing the case.
The victim's father suspected a man from a different community as the killer, whom he had reported for harassment in 2019, and claimed the murder was an act of revenge.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Vivek Pansare said all angles were being investigated.

A high-speed BMW is involved in another fatal accident in Worli; man dies after fighting for life for 7 days
A 28-year-old man died on Saturday after fighting for his life for seven days after his two-wheeler collided with a high-speed BMW in Worli Sea area on July 20. Police have booked the driver of the car, who was taking his employer to attend an event at a five-star hotel in Worli.
This is the second fatal accident involving a speeding car in Worley this month. On July 9, 45-year-old fisherman Kaveri Nakhwa died after being dragged for nearly 2 kilometers after getting entangled with a BMW in Worli. Mihir Shah (allegedly under the influence of alcohol), son of Shinde Sena leader Rajesh Shah. The driver later swapped seats with his co-driver.
The deceased in the latest accident has been identified as Vinod Lad, a director of a transport company in Thane. Lad died on Saturday at BYL Nair Hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment for the past seven days. He also underwent a major surgery. read here
