It is often difficult for models to capture all the details of these types of systems.

The low pressure will move westward and disintegrate over New England on Monday.

With Monday being cloudy, temperatures will be below average and struggle to reach the upper 70s. Afternoon highs will actually stay in the mid-70s in many areas.

Clouds will keep temperatures in the low 80s on Monday with plenty of humidity.

As far as rainfall amounts go, I don't expect much, but if we get a shower or downpour, we could see over a quarter of an inch. Much of the area will see anywhere from the one-tenth of an inch to the quarter-inch mark.

The exception is south of Mass Pike, where some of the heavier downpours could cause some city street flooding and more than an inch of rain in isolated areas.

We could actually use some of the rain. The past few weeks have been relatively dry, but that's not unusual for this time of year.

    High Surf Consulting

This small area of low pressure is causing rough seas and as a result, a high surf warning has been issued along the coastline, meaning the risk of dangerous rip currents is high. The advisory will last throughout the day until it ends at 6pm today.

It's not the best beach day, but if you're going to the ocean, be aware that it can be rough and have rip currents.

A high surf warning is in effect for much of the coastline on Monday.

    Expanded prospects

There will be enough instability in the air Tuesday and Wednesday that clouds may bubble up and produce a few showers and even thunderstorms.

Not everyone will experience showers, but if you do, be aware that brief periods of heavy rain are possible. It's also possible your town is missing out on the rain entirely.

The weather will become less unsettled Thursday into Friday, with some showers or thunderstorms still possible inland areas, but overall we'll see a mix of clouds and sunshine.

Humidity levels will be high throughout the week and it will not be surprising if we issue a heat warning if temperatures are warm enough.

Dew point will be near 70 on Tuesday and remain high all week.

The summer warmth continues into the weekend, with only a small risk of sudden storms. Temperatures will be in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees, but will feel like the low 90s with high humidity.

    Monday's crash

Southern New England: Clouds and a few showers are today's weather words. This week is expected to be unsettled and wet, but with some sunshine. Temperatures will be in the 70s on Monday and in the 80s the rest of the week.

Western Massachusetts: Scattered showers are possible Monday with temperatures in the 70s to near 80s.

Cape Cod and Islands: Today, some areas may experience several heavy rainstorms. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Northern New England: Monday will be mainly dry in the northern half of the region, with a few showers in the south.

Clouds will keep temperatures in the low 80s on Monday with plenty of humidity.
