MADISON COUNTY, Ind. — Cleanup efforts are underway at a Madison County school administration building that sustained significant damage Monday night as severe weather swept through the area.
Tom Ecker of the Madison County Emergency Management Agency confirmed to FOX59/CBS4 that the Frankton-Lapel Community Schools administration building located at 7916 W. 300 North in Anderson sustained significant damage to the roof and at least two walls.
In addition, Ecker said storm assessors are currently en route to at least two homes near Perkinsville that have reported damage. As of the time of publication, the extent of damage to the home has not been confirmed.
So far, most of the damage in the county has occurred in areas around County Road 300 North and County Road 600 West, north of Perkinsville.
Tornado warnings were issued at various times Monday night for portions of Delaware, Henry, Madison, Franklin, Butler, Wayne, Fayette, Union and Henry counties. The National Weather Service previously reported that a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was observed 9 miles east of Anderson around 10:44 p.m.
