Rescue operations are underway after the Mumbai-Howrah mail train derailed near Badabanbu in Seraikela-Hasavan district of Jharkhand in the early hours of Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
Affected by the accident, the routes of about 16 trains passing through the affected areas have been changed.
Rescue operations are underway after the Howrah-Mumbai Mail accident occurred at Chaibasa in Jharkhand state in the early hours of Tuesday at around 3.45 am, causing multiple bogies of the train to derail. A helpline number has been set up to assist affected passengers. Affected by the accident, the routes of about 16 trains passing through the affected areas have been changed.
Nishant Kumar, senior divisional commercial manager (DCM) of Ranchi Railways, confirmed that the derailment of Howrah-CSTM (Mumbai) Mail train No. 12810 in Chakradharpur division necessitated these changes. Affected trains will run on diversion routes until the line is cleared and normal operations resume.
Passengers are advised to check the latest timetables and route changes before heading to the station.
Route changes for upcoming train services
- Train No. 13287 Durg–Ara South Bihar Express: Starting from July 30, the train will be diverted. It will no longer follow its original route but will pass through Rourkela, Nuagaon, Muri, Kotshila, Bokaro Steel City, Bhojudih, Jaichandi Pahad and Asansol.
- Train No. 13288 Ara–Durg South Bihar Express: This train will also follow a modified route from July 29. It will pass through Asansol, Jaichandi Pahad, Bhojudih, Bokaro Steel City, Kotshila, Muri, Nuagaon and Rourkela, deviating from the original planned route.
- Train No. 12130 Howrah–Pune Azad Hind Express: Starting July 29, the train will change its route. It will not follow the scheduled route but will pass through Sini, Kandla, Purulia, Hatiya, Nugaon and Rourkela.
- Train No. 18005 Howrah-Jagadalpur Samaleswari Express: From July 29, the train will run on a modified route. It will pass through Chandil, Murree, Hatiya and Rourkela instead of the originally planned route.
- Train No. 12834 Howrah-Ahmedabad SF Express: Starting from July 29, this train will be diverted and will deviate from its original route via Chandil, Purulia, Hatiya and Rourkela.
- Train number 18029 Lokmanya Tilak Terminal-Shalimar Express: From July 28, the train will run on an alternate route. It will pass through Rourkela, Hatia, Purulia and Tatanagar instead of the originally planned route.
- Train No. 12859 Mumbai CSTM–Howrah Express: From July 29, the train will run along a new route passing through Rourkela, Hatia, Purulia and Tatanagar instead of the original route.
- Train No. 12833 Ahmedabad-Howrah SF Express: Starting from July 28, the train will be diverted via Rourkela, Hatia, Purulia and Tatanagar, deviating from its original route.
- Train No. 18112 Yesvantpur–Tatanagar Weekly Express: The train will operate on a modified route from July 29, passing through Nuagaon, Hatia, Muri, Kotshila, Purulia and Tatanagar.
- Train number 20821 Pune-Santragachi Humsafar Express: The train will be diverted from July 29 through Nuagaon, Hatia, Muri, Kotshila, Bokaro Steel City, Bhojudih, Adra, Medinipur and Kharagpur instead of its original route.
- Train No. 12221 Pune–Howrah AC Duronto Express: The train will be diverted from July 29 through Nuagaon, Hatia, Muri, Kotshila, Purulia and Tatanagar instead of its original route.
- Train number 12890 SMVT Bangalore – Tata Nagar SF Express: The train will operate on a new route from July 29 via Nuagaon, Muri, Chandil and Tatanagar.
- Train No. 12101 Lokmanya Tilak Terminal-Shalimar Jnaneswari Express: From July 28, the train will be diverted through Nuagaon, Kotshila, Bokaro Steel City, Bhojudih, Adra, Medinipur and Kharagpur, deviating from the original route.
- Train No. 12860 Howrah – Mumbai CSTM Gitanjali Express: From July 30, the train will run on a modified route passing through Tatanagar, Chandil, Purulia, Kotshila, Nuagaon and Rourkela instead of the original route.
- Train No. 12810 Howrah – Mumbai CSTM Mail: The train will operate on a new route from July 30 via Kharagpur, Medinipur, Adra, Bhojudih, Bokaro Steel City, Kotshila, Nuagaon and Rourkela.
- Train number 12767 Hazur Sahib Nanded–Santragachi SF Express: From July 29, the train will be diverted and run via Nuagaon, Kotshila, Bokaro Steel City, Bhojudih, Adra, Medinipur and Kharagpur instead of the original route.
