The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted bail to former Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik in a money laundering case on health grounds.

The Supreme Court said that Melk's medical bail will remain in force until the Bombay High Court disposes of the regular bail plea.
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, who appeared before the court, did not oppose bail and said the interim medical bail may become permanent.
The ED arrested Malik in February 2022 in a case allegedly linked to the activities of fugitive gangster Daoud Ibrahim and his associates.
Malik had approached the High Court for relief, claiming that he suffered from chronic kidney disease in addition to various other ailments. He also sought bail.
The ED's case against Malik is based on an FIR filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against Ibrahim, a designated global terrorist and his associates in 1993 The main accused in the Mumbai bomb blasts.
