LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Gov. Jim Pillen on Monday requested a federal disaster declaration for damage caused by severe spring storms.
The request to President Joe Biden applies to 17 counties: Burt, Butler, Colfax, Dodge, Douglas, Dundee, Fillmore, Hamilton, Sea Hitchcock, Howard, Keys, Platte, Polk, Red Willow, Saunders and Washington counties.
Pillen said the May 20 to June 3 storms caused $11.5 million in damage to public infrastructure.
Storms bring tornadoes, high winds and flooding.
The governor's office said Lincoln County was included as part of the state disaster declaration, but the damage was not severe enough to qualify for federal aid.
