MIAMI, Fla. – South Florida is set to experience stormy weather in the afternoon, with heavy showers and thunderstorms expected across the region. The National Weather Service in Miami reports that heavy rainfall is possible across the region today, resulting in large amounts of precipitation in several cities including Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.
The weather will gradually change Wednesday as dry air moves in, which will reduce rain chances for the second half of the week, according to the National Weather Service. Despite the decrease in precipitation, temperatures are expected to rise, bringing warmer weather and a higher heat index.
There's a 50% chance of rain in Miami today, with temperatures ranging from 77°F to 90°F. Similar conditions are expected in other South Florida cities, with a 61 percent chance of rain in Boca Raton and a 68 percent chance in Naples.
The weather forecast for the remainder of the week calls for a mix of sunshine and rain. Rainfall will decrease on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs reaching the upper 90s. By Friday, it's expected to be cloudy with temperatures around 91°F. Over the weekend, there's a 45% chance of rain again on Saturday with cooler temperatures in the upper 80s.
Beyond recent weather, there is a moderate (60%) chance of a tropical depression forming in the southwest Atlantic over the coming week.
