4 things to know about the weather:
- Weather warning possible today
- Local strong PM storm
- Dangerous heat later this week
- Sweltering, stormy weekend
Hope you are one of the lucky ones to get a rainy Monday. If not, today is your best chance of the week to finally get some moisture from nature.
Additional clouds today will help keep temperatures around 90°. Dulles Airport will definitely be cooler than Monday's 96°.
Higher humidity increases the sweat factor, so it may not feel much different. A wave of low pressure will move in this afternoon, causing widespread thunderstorms.
Like yesterday, any of these individual storms could move into severe areas and produce wind gusts approaching 60 mph.
Peak storm times will be from 4pm to 10pm, with the potential for storms being equally high throughout the NBC4 viewing area.
On Thursday and Friday, the chance of rainfall will drop to 20% and temperatures will rise. Highs will be in the mid-90s both days, and the heat index will easily exceed 100 degrees both afternoons.
There is a greater chance for afternoon storms on both days this weekend, with highs remaining in the mid-90s and overnight lows in the mid-70s.
The hurricane center is still tracking a tropical wave east of the Leeward Islands.
There isn’t much to worry about over the next two to three days, but after that, all bets are off.
Due to its location, the southeastern Atlantic coast and Gulf of Mexico remain areas of concern for a potential storm named Chris.
StormTeam4 will keep you updated in the coming days. Until then, do your best to stay out of the heat.
