Alka hails from the Nadia region of Bangladesh.
Alka said that he was admitted to Brahminbaria Medical College in Bangladesh on August 9, 2023.
Arka Samaddar, a medical student from Shantipur in West Bengal's Nadia district, is currently facing problems completing her studies. According to Local 18 Bengal, he began his education in the Eastern European country of Ukraine. He had to leave the country after only four months due to the war between Russia and Ukraine. He then started his education at Brahminbaria Medical College, Bangladesh; but later also had to leave the country due to protests. The protest called for reforms in quota allocation of government jobs in Bangladesh. Alka said that he enrolled in Brahmanbaria Medical College on August 9, 2023.
Alka added that female students live on the university campus and therefore the university authorities have taken special measures in case the situation turns adverse. Therefore, the students did not face much difficulty. According to him, some college students also participated in the movement, but they were not residents. He said there were one or two foreign students, but they did not participate in sports. Arka said they were a little worried because of the curfew and internet issues.
Arka added that the Bangladesh government and the Indian Embassy have contacted them and extended a lot of cooperation. Aker said his hometown is close to Bangladesh and he is able to stay in touch regularly with it thanks to access to some networks in India. Two days ago, they finally returned home under the escort of police sent by the Indian Embassy and the Bangladeshi government. Arka said he is in regular contact with the college authorities and will return to Bangladesh when the situation normalizes. He completed his education from Prime Minister SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Ranaghat and passed NET (National Eligibility Test) in 2021.
