Delhi Police has banned non-traditional aerial platforms such as paragliders, hang gliders and hot air balloons from flying in the capital from August 2 to 16 due to safety reasons, officials said.

According to reports, some criminals, anti-social elements or terrorists who are unfavorable to India may pose a threat to the safety of the public, dignitaries and important facilities through the use of “non-traditional aerial platforms” such as paragliders, paramotors and hang-over aircraft. The order states that gliders, drones, remote-controlled aircraft, hot-air balloons, small powered aircraft or skydiving from aircraft, etc.
Therefore, the Delhi Police Commissioner has banned the flying of such aerial platforms within the jurisdiction of the national capital on the occasion of Independence Day, failing which it will be punishable under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (disobedience to orders duly promulgated by a public servant). it says.
“This order takes effect from Friday and will be valid for 15 days until August 16 (both dates inclusive), unless withdrawn earlier,” the order said.
