According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast report, heavy rain (yellow alert) is likely to occur in localized areas in urban Mumbai, suburbs and Thane on Thursday (August 1). IMD has issued red alert (extremely heavy rain) for central Maharashtra from August 1 to 3; East Madhya Pradesh from August 1 to 2; Konkan and Goa from August 2 to 3 state, on August 3 in the Gujarat region.
While Palghar is likely to receive moderate rain, the IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rain (orange alert) in Raigad and Ratnagiri on Thursday. Heavy rain is likely to occur in Sindhudurg and extremely heavy rain (orange alert) is expected in Pune, Satara and Kolhapur.
A red alert indicates heavy to very heavy rain with more than 20 centimeters of rain falling within 24 hours. An orange alert indicates heavy rain of 11 cm to 20 cm, and a yellow alert indicates heavy rain of 6 cm to 11 cm.
