Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged governors to play the role of an effective bridge between the Center and the state and interact with people and social organizations in a way that woos the weaker sections.
Addressing a two-day governor's conference chaired by President Drupadi Murmu, Modi said the office of governor is an important institution that plays a vital role for the welfare of the people within the constitutional framework, Especially to the tribal areas within the constitutional framework.

The President, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and Union Home Minister Amit Shah also addressed the inaugural meeting.
“In his speech, the Prime Minister urged the governors to play the role of an effective bridge between the center and the state and interact with the people and social organizations to win over the vulnerable groups,” said a press release issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The meeting, which will conclude on Saturday, will cover a wide range of issues that not only play a key role in shaping center-state relations but also in promoting welfare schemes for the common people, a release said.
In his opening address, Murmu said better coordination of work among central agencies across states is crucial for the smooth functioning of democracy.
She advised governors to think about how, as the constitutional heads of their respective states, they could facilitate such coordination.
Murmu said the agenda of the meeting included carefully selected issues that were critical to achieving national goals.
The Chairman added that the deliberations of the meeting would provide an enriching experience for all participants and assist in their operations.
The President expressed confidence that all governors will continue to contribute to the service and welfare of the people and fulfill their oaths fairly.
Murmu said a new era in the country's justice system has begun with the implementation of three new laws related to criminal justice.
She added that the change in thought is evident from the names of the laws: Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.
According to Murmu, quality higher education is an intangible asset because it promotes personal development and social change as well as innovation and economic progress. She said the national education policy emphasizes improving the accreditation and evaluation system of educational institutions.
The President also urged the governor to contribute to this reform process in his capacity as chancellor of state universities.
Xi Jinping pointed out that the central government always gives top priority to the development of poor people, border areas, poverty-stricken areas, and left-behind populations on the road of development.
She urged the governors to come up with ways to achieve inclusive development for the people of tribal areas. these areas.
Murmu said that “youth development” and “youth-led development” will gain greater momentum if the energy of young people can be invested in positive and constructive work.
The MyBharat campaign provides a well-thought-out system for this. She said governors should encourage people to get involved so more and more young people can benefit.
Talking about the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' campaign, Murmu pointed out that the campaign enables people of different states and union territories to understand and connect with each other.
She urged governors to contribute to further strengthening the spirit of unity. Murmu said many efforts are being made to address challenges like climate change and global warming and governors can contribute to this by making the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' movement a larger people's movement.
She said that by encouraging natural farming, soil fertility can be improved and farmers' incomes can be increased. Raj Bhavans can lead by example and promote natural farming.
In his speech, Dankar referred to the oath taken by governors and urged them to fulfill their constitutional responsibility to make people aware of social welfare schemes and the incredible developments that have taken place in the past decade.
Shah outlined the course of discussions that would take place during the two-day meeting and urged the governors to visit “vibrant villages” and “ideal areas” to instill confidence in people and boost development efforts.
The meeting is designed to hold breakout sessions where each agenda item will be considered by a panel of governors, the release said.
In addition to provincial governors, federal ministers and officials from relevant ministries will also attend such meetings.
Comments and recommendations from each group will be presented to the president, vice president and prime minister, as well as other attendees, at a wrap-up meeting on Saturday.
