Heavy rains that caused waterlogging and connectivity problems in Mumbai have also eased the issue as the Madhya Vaitrana dam is now at full capacity during the monsoon season.
Recent heavy rainfall has caused four of the city's seven water supply lakes to reach full capacity. As the Madhya Vaitrana lake is now also at full capacity, it becomes the fifth lake to be filled up this monsoon season.
According to the BMC, the Madhya Vaitrana reservoir was officially filled with water at 2:45 am on August 4.

Earlier, Tulsi, Vihar, Modaksagar and Tensa lakes were filled up last month. With the addition of Madhya Vaitrana, five of the seven lakes supplying water to the BMC are now at full capacity.
IMD predicts heavy rains in Maharashtra, issues orange alert for Mumbai
The IMD predicts light to moderate rains at many places in Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Konkan and Goa on August 4 and 5, with occasional Heavy to very heavy rain occurs.
The IMD has also issued an orange alert for Mumbai today, with heavy rain expected in the city and suburbs. Heavy rainfall is also possible in isolated areas, with occasional wind gusts up to 65 kilometers per hour.
Meanwhile, an Army column was deployed in Ekta Nagar district on the request of the district magistrate in response to the continued heavy rainfall and excess water released from Kadawathra dam.
On August 4, 2024, a column led by the Maratha Light Infantry was mobilized at around 10 am for Ekta Nagar for flood relief work.
The column consists of approximately 100 personnel, including engineers and medical personnel, and is equipped with necessary vehicles and supplies.
