Both airlines have decided to cancel scheduled flights to Dhaka in view of the violence in Bangladesh

Air India has canceled scheduled flights to and from Dhaka with immediate effect on Monday due to the situation that emerged after Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned amid unprecedented anti-government protests.

The airline operates two daily flights to Dhaka from the national capital.

“In view of the new situation in Bangladesh, we have immediately canceled scheduled flight operations to and from Dhaka.

“We are continuously monitoring the situation and providing support to passengers with confirmed travel to and from Dhaka with a one-time waiver of rescheduling and cancellation fees,” an Air India spokesperson said in a statement on Monday.

In addition, IndiGo Airlines has also canceled its flight to Dhaka scheduled for tomorrow. The airline said of X: “IIn view of the current situation #dhaka, unfortunately, all flights for tomorrow have been cancelled. We understand that this may cause significant inconvenience and disruption to your travel plans, and we deeply regret this.

In Dhaka, Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar Uz Zaman said Hasina had resigned and an interim government was taking over the responsibilities.
