A government source said India had to deal with states, not individuals, and did not see any problem

Sources told CNN-News18 on Tuesday that multiple forces have joined forces to overthrow the government of Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh. The 76-year-old was forced to resign as prime minister on Monday and fled Dhaka on a military plane to an Indian air force base in Uttar Pradesh state after weeks of protests over job quotas.

“She faced political rivals from the rival Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) as well as foreign adversaries,” a senior Indian government source said. “They came together to launch a campaign guided by an invisible hand. sports.”

Sources said there were some issues with Hasina's personal conduct due to arrogance and anti-incumbency factors also played a major role in her departure from Bengal.

Hasina won a fourth consecutive term in January in an election boycotted by the opposition.

“India thinks there is still a significant segment of voters in Bangladesh who think she is doing a good job,” the source said. “She didn't stay and we felt if she resisted she could succeed, but she ultimately decided to quit. Now the army has taken over, This will eventually lead to the emergence of an interim government, where new people will emerge like banker Muhammad Yunus. We always warn her about the appointment of the Army Chief, because the current appointment is in her favour, but only two candidates are available. She ultimately chose to go against our advice. We were hopeful about our relationship with the new regime in Dhaka. We had to deal with the state, not individuals, and we saw no problem.

On Tuesday, the military reshuffled several top generals, demoting some considered close to Hasina and firing the feared commander of the U.S.-sanctioned Rapid Action Battalion paramilitary force, Ziaul Ziaul Ahsan.

Khaleda Zia, the 78-year-old former prime minister and chairwoman of the BNP, was also released from years of house arrest, the president and his party said in a statement.

Hasina is currently at Hinton Air Force Base in Ghaziabad. While she is exploring asylum options in European countries, reports indicate the UK is not prepared to grant her asylum. Sources suggest that her sister Rehana, who holds British citizenship, may be heading to the UK soon.
