As Tropical Cyclone Debbie approaches northern Maryland, temperatures are expected to drop into the 80s in the Baltimore area this week, with thunderstorms expected.

Thunderstorms over the weekend caused power outages in more than 20,000 locations across the region. Currently, only 1,171 customers are affected.

The National Weather Service expects Tuesday to be the last day this week with temperatures in the 90s. The heat index, which takes into account humidity, will be as high as 105.

There's a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., but by 9 p.m., rain is possible and the temperature drops to around 73 degrees.

Highs on Wednesday will be around 80 degrees, with a 70% chance of showers. Thunderstorms possible before 5 p.m.

The Baltimore area will begin to see the effects of Debbie on Thursday and end on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Potential impacts include flooding from heavy rainfall, tidal flooding and strong winds over water.

Thursday's high will be near 80 degrees, with a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. East winds of 10 to 13 mph will be expected throughout the day, with gusts as high as 20 mph. At night, when temperatures drop to around 72 degrees, the chance of showers and thunderstorms is as high as 80 percent.

Heading into the weekend, temperatures in the Baltimore area will reach the mid-80s on Friday, with a chance of showers. Rain and thunderstorms are likely to continue into early Saturday.

Highs are expected to reach the 80s on Saturday and Sunday. However, there is a 50% chance of showers on Saturday afternoon, dropping to 30% in the evening.
