91% of German electric car dealers believe that the current order situation this year is “poor” or “very bad.”
German politicians have been racing to phase out fossil fuel cars and replace them with electric vehicles. But then technical and economic realities set in – especially among private consumers, who are abandoning them in droves!
They should listen to real science instead of all the campaign-funded crap.
German online national daily Die Welt reported that electric vehicle sales to private consumers fell sharply in the first half of 2024, down 47% compared to the same period last year. The sharp drop is a major setback for the country's rush to become “carbon neutral”.
Hat tip: blackout news
“Germans are increasingly skeptical of electric cars. According to Le Monde, the latest data from car dealers show that the refusal to buy is escalating. Private customers in particular are rejecting electric cars. Sales of hybrid cars have also dropped significantly , sales plummeted 37% during the same period.
“Dealers do not expect any improvement in the situation in the second half of the year,” Le Monde reported. “91% of car dealers surveyed rated the full-year private customer order situation for pure electric vehicles as 'poor' or 'very poor'.”
Meanwhile, sales of gasoline and diesel engine cars grew by 24% and 20% respectively.
Buyers are put off by poor national charging infrastructure, range limitations and high costs. Additionally, many consumers have begun to realize that electric vehicles are not so green after all and come with their own set of environmental challenges. The benefits of owning an electric car are few and the costs are high.
