Nikhil Kumar has become a hero because of his impressive skills. So far, he has rescued more than 650 endangered snakes in Assani village.
For many people, witnessing a snake up close can be a frightening experience due to their unpredictable and life-threatening nature. But for Nikhil Kumar Mahadev Kambale, a resident of Belagavi in Karnataka state, saving snakes has become his passion. The young hero's fascination with reptiles began at the age of 14. During that time, unlike other kids, he stepped up to the plate and safely rescued and released a snake he found at school. Now 24-year-old Nikhil has become a local hero for his impressive skills, having so far rescued more than 650 snakes from dangerous situations in the village of Assani. Known locally as 'Snake Nikhil Kumar', his impressive record includes rescuing various venomous species such as cobras and venomous snakes.
Among all species, Nikhil, a student from Siddharth Colony and a diploma student of JBM Institute of Technology, Tedal in Bagalkot district, is particularly interested in saving cobras. The young man, the son of a BSF soldier, has become an expert at catching snakes. Interestingly, Nikhil not only captures these reptiles with great skill and precision but also ensures their safe return to the wild. Because of his dedication, Nikhil has earned the admiration of people during his rescue missions in the community.
Nikhil Kumar Mahadev Kambale is not the only young hero making headlines for saving animals. In Guwahati, 16-year-old Saiyam Mazumder won an award for taking care of stray animals. According to reports, Saiyam is the only one among the 19 children from Assam to be awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar award for their work this year. His journey began at the age of 7, under the guidance of his mentor Shourabh Kant Mishra, the young boy started rescuing snakes and earned the title of India's youngest snake rescuer at the age of 12.
In an interview with The Times of India, the boy said, “I have been rescuing these animals since I was 10 years old. Whenever I see stray dogs losing food and shelter, I rescue them with the help of local people and provide They provide necessary treatment. For this, I have to seek financial assistance from my parents and sometimes collect money from local people. Although many people do not help, a few people come forward to help. After recovery, the dogs do. was returned to its original habitat.
On January 22, President Droupadi Murmu of India conferred Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to Saiyam Mazumder at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
