Tamil Nadu Minister PK Sekar Babu said the DMK provides full freedom to people to worship the god of their choice.
Tamil Nadu Minister PK Sekar Babu said the DMK has never claimed atheism and has never interfered with the beliefs of believers and that anyone is free to worship the god of their choice and criticized the BJP for coming up with a new strategy against the ruling party.
He said the DMK has always given full freedom of worship to people of all faiths and never interfered, a move that echoed recent accusations by BJP state president K Annamalai that the DMK was forced to change its previous policy due to the BJP's activities in Tamil Nadu. There was a strong reaction to the atheistic stance.
“Whether they are Muslims, Christians, Buddhists or Hindus, DMK gives them full freedom to worship the god of their choice… We have never interfered with the faith of believers,” Babu, who heads the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Fund, said on Thursday Tell reporters here.
“DMK is not a divisive force. You can chant the name of any god, like Jai Shree Ram, Harohara Muruga, Venkatachalapathy, Govinda, Govinda, any name will do.
When asked about Annamalai's comment that the DMK has understood that its atheistic principles will not succeed in the state, Babu retorted, “When did we say there is no God?” He said even Chief Minister MK Stalin's The minister's son Udhayanidhi also accepted the honors of the temple and received blessings from the priests of the Sri Parthasarathy Swamy temple before inaugurating the commercial complex built by the temple at a cost of Rs 320 crore.
The minister dismissed Annamalai's remarks as “nothing but nonsense” and claimed that the BJP leader was trying a new strategy against the ruling party as all the weapons he had used in the past Made useless by DMK.
“He is coming up with something new but it will not work because DMK Iron Man President (MK Stalin) is a capable leader who can defeat such attempts. Our aim is to serve the people and Not worried about the criticism,” Babu said.
