Nobel laureate Yunus was sworn in by Bangladeshi President Mohammad Shahabuddin at a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Dhaka.
Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pranay Verma attended the swearing-in ceremony of Muhammad Yunus as the head of the interim government of Bangladesh.
On Thursday evening, Bangladeshi President Mohammad Shahabuddin swore in the 84-year-old Nobel Prize winner Yunus at a ceremony held at the presidential palace “Bangabhaban” in Dhaka.
An official from the External Publicity Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Indian High Commissioner attended the swearing-in ceremony of the interim government of Bangladesh.
Yunus takes over as head of the interim government three days after Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister and fled the country following weeks of violent protests.
Announced the establishment of a 16-member advisory committee to assist Yunus in managing national affairs.
Dr. Nasheed Islam and Asif Mahmoud, two of the leading organizers of the Student Movement Against Discrimination, are also members of the advisory board.
