Delhi Police to step up security for Independence Day celebrations
Delhi Police has procured 700 artificial intelligence-based facial recognition CCTV cameras to ensure strong security arrangements for the Independence Day celebrations in the city, officials said on Thursday.
They said the cameras will be installed in and around the northern and central regions, especially the Red Fort where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver his Independence Day speech, to monitor the activities of VVIPs and keep an eye on any suspicious activity.
Officials said the northern zone will be equipped with 346 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, while the central zone will have 354 cameras.
“The cameras will have high-resolution pan-tilt zoom capability, which will enable the police to identify any person from a distance. The cameras will be installed in and around the fort,” a senior police officer said.
Cameras equipped with artificial intelligence-based facial recognition and video analysis systems will ensure foolproof security, the official said, adding that more than 10,000 security personnel will be deployed at the Mughal-era fort when Modi addresses the nation. .
