The Upper House on Friday passed a motion to nominate 10 members of the Lok Sabha, including four members from the Bharatiya Janata Party and one member each from the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party, for the Waqf (Amendment) 2024 Member, Joint Parliamentary Committee on Bills.
When the House reconvened in the afternoon after multiple adjournments, Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju moved a motion to nominate members to the Joint Committee on the Waqf Endowments (Amendment) Bill, 2024 , and agreed with the House of Commons’ recommendation that the House of Lords join the Joint Committee.
He also proposed to nominate 10 members of the Federal House of Representatives to serve on the above-mentioned joint committee.
Members include Brij Lal, Medha Vishram Kulkarni, Gulam Ali, Radha Mohan Das Agrawal (all BJP), Syed Naseer Hussain (Congress), Mohammed Nadimul Haque (AITC), V Vijayasai Reddy (YSRCP), M Mohamed Abdulla (DMK ), Sanjay Singh (AAP) and nominated member Dharmasthala Veerendra Heggade.
