Bihar police arrested three people from Gopalganj district and seized 50 grams of “radioactive material” worth crores of rupees from their possession, officials said.

“Based on a tip-off, the police arrested the trio on Thursday from Baltali area under the jurisdiction of Guchaikot police station. During interrogation, 50 grams of expensive radioactive substance 'Gilium' and four mobile phones were recovered.
“A case has been registered against them and they have been arrested. Forensic experts have also been called in to examine Nang,” the police statement said.
A senior police official in the region said the “radioactive material” was used to start nuclear reactors, optimize coal-fired power plants, treat cancer and drill for oil.
