Lakshama also composes songs.
In an interview with Local18, Lakshamma said that she learned to sing from her grandmother about 50 years ago.
Elderly people are a blessing to our family, especially our grandparents. Their presence ensures a lot of love and affection as well as security. The Local18 team visited an old lady from Telangana state who creates art and sings in her spare time.
The woman, Lakshmamma, is a resident of Godavari Kani Power Plant Colony in Peddapalli district of Telangana. She is a 60-year-old retired employee who loves writing and singing. Local18 said she sang songs from her childhood while doing housework. She prefers to keep herself busy.
In an interview with Local18, Lakshamma said she learned to sing from her grandmother when she was a child about 50 years ago. So, after she learned to sing, she taught herself to write songs. According to her, she used to sing during Batukamma festival and celebrations at home and other celebrations. Lakshama added that although she was a very talented singer, no one thought she could make it to the world stage. She had the responsibilities of marriage and the care of her children, which became obstacles to her dreams.
The songs she wrote have beautiful meanings, and even though she is 60 years old, her singing voice is still beautiful. The old woman hopes to remember all the songs she wrote years ago and continue writing them when she has time. According to her, she has written hundreds of songs.
Lakshama said: “The pain of not being able to prove my talent when I was young has always been in my mind, but in recent times, I have seen a lot of adults singing.” She is waiting for someone to discover her and give her a chance. It's long overdue.
