About Nethra-Jumbo 1 Hybrid
Dinakara Adiga, director of Puttur DCR, and his team developed the Nethra-Jumbo 1 hybrid variety. This variety saves labor costs to a great extent. The nuts of this variety weigh 12 grams and more than 90% of the nuts are the same size. By processing 100 kg of these nuts, one can obtain 29-30 kg of kernels (the part inside the shell). The hybrid also has a higher grade core (W130) than the existing export standard grade W180. Apart from this, Nethra-Jumbo 1 hybrid can save Rs 16,000 per ton of yield in sowing labor cost. Moreover, at the current market price, large-sized seeds are sold for about Rs 10,000 more per ton. Growers and their pulp will get an additional profit of Rs 26,000 per ton. Can also be easily peeled off. Nethra-Jumbo 1 Hybrid also saves factory labor costs.
About Nethra Ganga 1 Hybrid
Former director Gangadhara Nayak and his team developed Nethra Ganga 1 Hybrid. This variety has large nuts (12-13 grams) and is also a fruitful variety that grows in clusters. Nethra Ganga 1 Hybrid begins flowering within a few years of planting and produces flowers and nuts over a longer period of time (from December to April). This variety is suitable for growing in a sturdy, compact system as it responds well to tillage (preparing the land for growing crops).
