Sources say minority safety is an important responsibility of the current government
Hindu groups in Dhaka and other parts of the world on Saturday protested against alleged ongoing communal genocide in Bangladesh.
There have also been protests against the destruction of Hindu temples in countries hit by political unrest.
A large number of Hindus protested in Dhaka against the killing of community members.
Protesters held placards that read “Hindus have the right to exist.”
Likewise, a large number of protesters gathered in Chittagong, demanding security from local authorities and world bodies. They also demanded protection of their temples.
Protests were also reported in other parts of the world, including London and Finland.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday also called on the new interim government to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi Hindus.
Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus was sworn in as head of an interim government on Thursday, days after student-led protests ended Sheikh Hasina's 15-year rule.
“We are continuously monitoring the situation,” a senior source in the Indian government said. “We are also talking to the civil government and demanding foolproof security. We hope this insult and genocide will stop and all temples be protected as heritage Protection. The security of ethnic minorities is an important responsibility of the ruling government.
