Several Hindu temples, homes and businesses were damaged and at least two Hindu leaders affiliated with the Hasina Awami League were killed.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said no community should be a victim of violence in Bengal and urged the government to raise the issue at the international level.
Several Hindu temples, homes and businesses were vandalized and women were attacked, according to community leaders in Dhaka, where at least two Hindu leaders from Sheikh Hasina's Awami League party were killed in Bangladesh after she fled the country killed in violence in the country.
Violence broke out across Bangladesh after the collapse of Hasina's government last week, killing more than 230 people, taking the death toll to 560 since anti-quota protests first began in mid-July.
In a post in Hindi on No one should be a victim of violence regardless of their religious beliefs.
“The Indian government should strongly raise this issue at the international level as a human rights protection issue. This is also a very sensitive issue for our defense and internal security.
Earlier in the day, Yadav said on X that any country that exploits the political situation in other countries to serve its own interests will weaken itself.
“World history has witnessed violent mass revolutions, military coups, and anti-government movements in different countries for various reasons. Whether they are right or wrong, they all depend on the test of time,” Yadav posted on X in Hindi.
In this case, only the country that does not discriminate against anyone on any grounds “rises again”.
In his first article on X, Yadav did not name Bangladesh or India specifically, but without elaborating, he referred to the “failure” of foreign policy.
“What needs to be particularly emphasized is that history also tells us that any force that takes advantage of the political situation in other countries to achieve its own political goals will weaken that country internally and externally,” he said.
He added that every country must protect its citizens.
Yadav said it is also the humane duty of every civilized society to protect every resident and neighbor without any discrimination.
The SP chief said that according to global diplomatic standards, it is inappropriate for any country to unilaterally interfere in the internal affairs of another country.
But at the same time, he advocated “cooperating with the international community and taking courageous steps.”
“A government that remains a silent spectator in this situation should regard the situation in the countries that border it on all sides as neither normal nor favorable to it, and a failure of its foreign policy.
“This means there is something seriously wrong with its foreign policy from a geopolitical perspective,” Yadav said.
