The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for rainfall in the national capital on Monday and warned of thunderstorms and lightning. Meanwhile, Gurgaon and Faridabad received an orange alert warning of heavy rain.

An official of the Public Works Department (PWD) said they received 40 calls about waterlogging and three reports of fallen trees. Of the 40 complaints, 35 to 38 cases of waterlogging have been resolved.
According to IMD data, the city's main weather station Safdarjung recorded 26.3 mm rainfall between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm, while Lodi Road recorded 30.4 mm rainfall and Palam's Rainfall was 20.4 mm and Mayur Vihar received 55.5 mm.

“Aman Vihar police station received a call about a child drowning in Rohini Sector 20 park around 6.30 pm on Saturday,” a senior police officer said.
When police arrived at the scene, they found that the child had been taken to the hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the child drowned in the park. The body has been sent for post-mortem and further action is being taken.
