In a heinous crime, the body of a female PGT doctor was reportedly found in the seminar room of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. Preliminary autopsy reports indicate she was sexually assaulted before her murder. The defendant was reportedly charged with rape and murder based on the evidence and testimony of a doctor who was present during the night shift. In response to the incident, junior doctors and students from several government hospitals, including RG Kar Medical College, National Medical College and Calcutta Medical College, staged protests and marches. The victim's parents were unable to attend the protests due to physical and mental illness.
According to family sources, they were told that the victim's mother was unable to make the trip due to illness. On the same day, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called the families of the victims. She reportedly met with them and assured them of justice. Security has been increased around the victim's house. The chief minister is also reportedly planning to meet the parents of the victim. Sanjeev Mukherjee, a neighbor and family member of the victim, revealed that the hospital administration is ready to accept all demands of the victim's family. The victim's family is demanding speedy justice for their daughter's death.
The father of the deceased girl said: “The doctor at RG Kar Hospital is not functioning properly. Pressure is being exerted on her in every way from above. She is on duty day in and day out as a woman along with four male doctors. There is no single woman Toilet.
Speaking to reporters, the victim's family said they were including the entire medical unit as suspects in the incident. According to media reports, the defendant admitted to murdering and sexually assaulting a female doctor at a government hospital. His name is Sanjay Roy and he is a citizen volunteer at the hospital.
Not only the police who were arrested, but also the family members suspected that there was someone else involved in this hellish incident.
Dr Subhoon Goswami, a member of the Joint Platform of Doctors Forum, believes that it was not one person but several people who were involved in the murder and rape of doctors.
