A special camp was set up in the affected areas of Wayanad on Monday to recover official documents of landslide survivors who lost everything, as the search mission to find the missing persons continued.
The camps were held at selected schools in Meppadi as part of a certificate/document retrieval exercise jointly conducted by the local self-government unit, district administration and state IT delegation.
The district collector posted on Facebook on Monday that the camp was making arrangements for landslide survivors staying in the camp or elsewhere to come and retrieve their lost documents or certificates.
Meanwhile, a 190-member team of NDRF, police, fire service, civil defense force, forest department and rescue volunteers resumed search operations in five districts of the disaster-hit area this morning.
The search for the missing persons came to a halt on Sunday after heavy rains fell in Mundakai and Choralmala districts.
According to the state government, 229 people have been killed in landslides and more than 130 people are still missing. They added that of the bodies found, 51 had yet to be identified.
