Smoke from fire extinguishers filled a passenger bus near Birpur in Uttar Pradesh, and 12 passengers jumped from the slow-moving train in panic and were injured.
Smoke from a fire extinguisher filled by men operating a fire extinguisher caused 12 passengers to jump out of a slow-moving train in panic near Birpur in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday (August 11). The incident took place in a general carriage of Howrah-Amritsar Post near Birpur station in Moradabad division in the morning.
According to the relevant person in charge of Northern Railway, while the train was running, passengers pulled the alarm chain to make an emergency stop and jumped out of the train in panic. “Prima facie, it appears that some miscreants or unruly passengers operated the fire extinguishers and gave the impression that a fire broke out in the main coach of the running Howrah-Amritsar mail coach,” he said. Adding that the Railway Protection Force is taking action.
