The real energy transition is to natural gas, not unreliable wind and solar

Among the great myths of recent years, one stands out: the world is in the midst of an “energy transition.” In fact, the world is in the midst of a dramatic energy transition. But this is not what the left wants. [emphasis, links added]

Despite billions of dollars spent by taxpayers on wind and solar, we still get less than 10% of our energy from green sources. The needle has not moved at all in the past two decades.

The more government spends, the less we get back for every taxpayer dollar invested. This is the definition of a declining stock.

The real energy transition is the move to natural gas. A few weeks ago, natural gas prices fell below $2 MMBTU, the lowest inflation-adjusted energy price in the past 20 years and possibly in human history. Just a few years ago, the price in real dollars was four times higher.

As an experiment, I went to the grocery store to find out the current price of a bottle of Evian water. The price I saw was $2.69, and it goes up to $3. This means natural gas is now cheaper than water.

This natural gas revolution is happening thanks to modern drilling techniques—including horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing.

The technology continues to get better and better and will continue to keep prices low for decades to come. Drilling technology is improving at a rate that far exceeds the rate at which it is being depleted.

At the same time, natural gas has all the properties of a miracle fuel. It's resourceful, American-made, clean-burning (using natural gas to reduce CO2 emissions), reliable, and cheap.

Chris Wright, CEO of Denver-based Liberty Energy, one of the leading experts on drilling technology, said: “As drilling technology improves, we continue to find more natural gas.”

Environmentalists should celebrate the natural gas revolution: It’s by far the biggest reason U.S. carbon dioxide emissions have plummeted, and it’s also the biggest reason our air is cleaner today than at any time in a hundred years.

At the same time, we discovered that windmills and solar panels are still far from the “clean energy” we hoped for.

Now, our cemeteries are filled with decommissioned toxic plastic and steel wind turbines that must be buried in large landfills or dumped in the ocean. The windmill uses 4,000 times more plastic than all the plastic straws in the world.

As we move to more electric and hybrid vehicles, natural gas is the obvious source of electricity to power these batteries. In other words, natural gas could meet all of America’s energy needs—including transportation.

Most natural gas resources in the United States are on federal lands. The Biden-Harris administration has halted the leases needed to find the next big oil and gas basin.

Unleash Prosperity estimates that given that the mountains of Western states contain about $50 trillion worth of oil, gas and mineral resources By drilling and extracting these resources, the U.S. government could generate more than $1 trillion in revenue from leases and other taxes.

So, why is the climate-industrial complex opposed to natural gas because it is the long-term solution (along with nuclear power – to meet all of the world's energy needs? Instead, they are waging a war on natural gas – apparently, because it is too cheap and Too rich.

Why use natural gas when you can use expensive and completely unreliable wind to generate electricity? The left is pathologically afraid of gasoline because they bet on the wrong thing and have Stupidly investing hundreds of billions of your own and taxpayer dollars into these unproductive technologies.

The only thing standing in the way of our unlimited natural gas future is the government. We need more licenses for LNG terminals, leases for drilling and pipelines so that we can move our natural gas resources to every region of the country and export them around the world.

Former President Donald Trump supports all of this. Vice President Kamala Harris has spoken out against fracking and wants to ban it.

Can you think of anything stupider?
