A girl was allegedly raped and then thrown from a flyover in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district. Police contradicted the victim's parents, claiming the victim's statements were untrue.
Uttar Pradesh police have arrested two teenagers for raping and attempting to murder a 21-year-old woman who claimed she was thrown from an overpass when she threatened to report the crime. However, some officials disputed the woman's account, saying she was visiting a friend's home alone.
The woman is a resident of a village under Gowrihar police station in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. She lives with her mother at her maternal grandfather's house in Banda, Uttar Pradesh. According to the complainant, on Sunday night, a 20-year-old man from Naraini town, known to the victim, lured her into an e-rickshaw and took her to his friend's residence in Babulal Chauraha.
After arriving at the friend's house, he allegedly raped the woman with his 21-year-old friend. The youths reportedly threatened the victim when she protested. The next morning, as he was preparing to take her home, an argument broke out on the Kalukuan overpass. During this confrontation, one of the defendants allegedly pushed the victim off the bridge.
However, police disputed the victim's version of events. He said the girl voluntarily went to her friend's room and jumped from the overpass following an argument in the early hours of Monday morning.
A video circulating on social media corroborated the police account, showing the girl leaving her home alone and locking the door from the outside at 11.21pm on Sunday. The investigation is ongoing and authorities are investigating to resolve discrepancies in the case and provide justice for the victims.
