Delhi Traffic Police update: Restrictions for Independence Day celebrations, check routes to avoid

As the country prepares to celebrate the 78th Independence Day with grandeur and patriotic fervour, Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory to avoid inconvenience to commuters in key areas of the city, especially near the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the national flag there.

Traffic restrictions will be imposed on several major roads in central Delhi from 4 am to 10 pm on Thursday in view of Independence Day celebrations. The measures are aimed at managing crowds and enhancing security around the Red Fort, where the celebrations are being held.

On the occasion of Independence Day, more than 3,000 traffic police personnel will be deployed to divert traffic and will be deployed at major junctions across the capital and on roads connecting the border to the Red Fort.
