Happy Independence Day 2024: This year marks India's 78th Independence Day, which falls on Thursday, August 15. It is a national holiday in government and private workplaces, banks, schools and colleges, and almost every other organization in the country.

All national channels of Radio India will broadcast the entire ceremony live in English, with commentary in Hindi. All India Radio will broadcast various patriotic and cultural programs throughout the day. Doordarshan and Akashwani district television stations in several states will broadcast local Independence Day events.
After the speech, cadets from the National Youth Corps sang the national anthem. Male and female NCC cadets (army, navy, air force) from different schools across the country participated in this patriotic and enthusiastic celebration.
Last year, Doordarshan's live coverage of the Independence Day celebrations included nearly 40 camera angles of Prime Minister Modi unfurling the tricolor at the Red Fort.
