Mirzapur farmers participate in Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort
Their products have gained huge demand not only in India but also internationally, with successful stalls in Dubai and Jakarta
Thirty-eight farmers from Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh were invited to attend the Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony at Delhi's Red Fort. This important invitation is in recognition of their contribution to the agricultural sector, especially in the production of value-added products of coarse grains.
City Block Farmer Producer Company Limited (FPO) CEO Dheeraj Kumar Maurya and his team have been at the forefront of this initiative. Maurya's FPO, which was initially established with just 10 farmers, now supports over 1,300 members engaged in the production of biscuits and snacks from millets, corn and other coarse grains.
Their products have gained huge demand not only in India but also internationally, with successful stalls in Dubai and Jakarta. Dheeraj Kumar Maurya, CEO, FPO, said, “The demand for coarse grain food items is high. Our FPO got an opportunity to participate in the Independence Day function organized at Red Fort in Delhi. As farmers, we are happy to receive the invitation.
Sandhya Maurya, a colleague at FPO, said, “Our aim is to make different food items using coarse grains, millets, corn etc. So far, biscuits and snacks have been made from coarse grains.”
“The demand for it is high. The government is encouraging the efforts of our people. We are happy to get the opportunity to participate in the flag hoisting event organized at Delhi's Red Fort.
38 farmers (19 men and 19 women) traveled on the Brahmaputra Express to participate in this prestigious event. Their participation highlights the growing recognition of their efforts and government support for the promotion of whole grain foods.
Their achievement marked a proud moment for the local farming community and the country as they attended the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Red Fort.
