The Prime Minister also seeks to position the country as a global education hub by promoting higher education and research and improving quality of life

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 78th Independence Day presented a Dream India to the 1.4 billion people of India, focusing on positioning the country as a global education hub by promoting higher education and research and improving quality of life. However, the Prime Minister highlighted three key points that are crucial to the country's future – the semiconductor boom, the gaming market and green jobs.

    semiconductors made in india

Currently, India is making slow progress in the semiconductor business. Although the country's semiconductor ecosystem is on an upward trajectory with support from government policies and international partners, India still has a long way to go. The country is looking to develop the entire ecosystem from design to manufacturing rather than focusing on specific areas of the wafer industry.

However, Prime Minister Modi in his I-Day speech projected a future in which India will dominate the world by manufacturing wafer semiconductors, aiming to reduce dependence on imports and enhance technological self-sufficiency.

Semiconductors power nearly everything—electric cookers, LED-lit displays, gaming devices, and blood pressure monitors. They are widely used in medical devices and clean energy for transportation and defense. So when the Prime Minister envisioned made-in-India semiconductors, he knew its potential.

    Global game market

In Prime Minister Modi's dream, India is a global gaming market, producing and exporting games to the world, not the other way around. The Prime Minister said India must leverage its rich ancient heritage and literature to launch 'Made in India' gaming products.

Not long ago, he welcomed a group of Gen Z gamers and game creators at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg and tried out some of the games himself. Asked at the time about possible regulation of the industry, he had said: “My attempt is to bring the country to a level where, by 2047, the government is no longer involved in the lives of middle-class families. Our lives are trapped in No more paperwork. Poor people need government, and government should be with them in their hard times.

In Modi's vision for future India, Indian professionals must lead the global gaming market, not just in games but in game production. According to his Independence Day speech, Indian gaming should make its mark across the world.

    Are green jobs real? certainly

Prime Minister Modi also showed a future India through his remarks, which is to fight climate change by creating green jobs. In fact, Modi mentioned climate change very early in his speech on Thursday, which shows that he attaches great importance to this issue. He had just returned from surveying in landslide-hit Wayanad over the weekend.

Prime Minister Modi said India's focus now is on green growth and green jobs, which will create jobs while contributing to environmental protection. This is not the first time he has mentioned green jobs. Earlier, during Environment Day 2022, he also mentioned this.

“Green jobs” are jobs that have a direct positive impact on the planet while contributing to overall environmental welfare. They aim to reduce the negative environmental impact of economic sectors while creating a low-carbon economy.

The Prime Minister also reiterated India's commitment to become a global leader in green hydrogen production and create sustainable jobs in the field of environmental protection and renewable energy.
