In an email purportedly sent by the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) (Independent) to media houses, including PTI, the terror group claimed that the bomb did not explode due to a “technical glitch”.
It provided a list that identified the exact locations of 19 bombs and said the locations of five other explosives could not be determined. It seeks the public's cooperation in defusing the bomb.
When contacted, a senior official from the Assam Police Headquarters told PTI that all police officers in the area, especially those named in the ULFA anti-peace rhetoric faction list, have been alerted and asked to conduct a thorough raid on the areas. search.
“Bomb disposal squads, metal detectors and sniffer dogs have been sent to each location. So far we have no information about the recovery of the bomb.
However, some local police in Nagaon, Lakhimpur and Sivasagar claimed that they recovered some “bomb-like material” from these locations.
Out of these 24 locations, 8 locations are located in Guwahati. These include an open space at the last gate of Dispur, close to the official residence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other ministers.
Another place is Satgaon Road leading to Narunji Army Cantonment in Guwahati. Apart from this, Ashram Road, Panbazar, Jorabat, Bhetapara, Maligaon and Rajgarh in the capital were also mentioned as bomb sites.
Locations in Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Nalbari, Tamurpur, Tinsukia and Golaghat districts have been named, with ULFA(I) also claiming Bombs were planted in these places.
Police have closed all roads in and around the location mentioned in the email. Senior police officers have attended all locations and are monitoring search operations.
