The Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to announce the schedule for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana on Friday.
The Election Commission is scheduled to provide details of the upcoming assembly elections at a press conference at 3 pm at the Vigyan Bhawan Plenary Hall in New Delhi.
Assembly elections in Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand will be held in the next five months. The terms of the legislative assemblies of Haryana and Maharashtra will expire on November 3 and November 26 respectively, while that of Jharkhand will end in January next year.
The commission is also planning to hold assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir before the September 30 deadline imposed by the Supreme Court.
