Thackeray said if the LS polls were about protecting democracy and the constitution, then the Assembly polls were a fight to safeguard Maharashtra's self-respect.

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Friday insisted that the MVA chief minister's face be decided first instead of following the logic of who wins the most seats and claimed that he will support any candidate announced by the Congress party and NCP (SP).

Addressing party workers of the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) here, Thackeray said that if the Lok Sabha polls are about protecting democracy and the constitution, then the Assembly polls are about safeguarding Mahathir Self-respect of Rashtra.

Maharashtra assembly elections are likely to be held in October or November. The MVA consists of the Sena (UBT), the Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) and the Congress.

He insisted that the chief ministerial candidate must be decided first and not follow the logic of which party wins the most seats in the elections.

Thackeray said his experience during his alliance with the BJP was that whoever has the numbers gets the chief minister's post. But he said the policy was harmful because it would lead to one side trying to beat the other's candidates to maintain dominance in the coalition.

“First, decide (the face of the chief minister) and then go ahead but don't follow the policy (whoever has the most seats will get the chief minister's post),” Thackeray said.

“Uddhav Thackeray will support any candidate announced by Congress and NCP (SP) as CM representative in MVA. I don't feel that I am fighting for myself but for the rights of Maharashtra,” Thackeray explain.

Thackeray asked the MVA cadres to rise above their own interests and fight to protect the pride and interests of Maharashtra. He also urged them to serve as ambassadors for the opposition alliance in the state.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi pushes hard for secular civil laws in the country, Thackeray wonders if he has given up on Hindutva.

In his Independence Day speech, Modi said: “I would like to say that India now needs to have a secular civil code. For 75 years, we have been following a common civil code. Now, we have to move towards a secular civil code. Only then, religion-based civil code Discrimination will also end. This will also end the disconnect felt by the common man. Pointing out that the Supreme Court has given various directions in this regard, he said that the spirit of the Constitution also encourages the formulation of such norms and mentioned the National Policy. Article 44 of the Guiding Principles.

Thackeray lashed out at the Prime Minister, asking: “Have you given up Hinduism? You are standing with Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar who do not believe in Hinduism. He The prime minister was also targeted over the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and asked why the bill was not passed when the BJP had an absolute majority.

“Why are you bringing a waqf bill to divide us? If you have to bring it, why not do it when you have the majority? My MPs are not there because they are with me. If it is going to be discussed This is an issue where our legislators will be involved,” Thackeray said.

Thackeray's party was criticized for not expressing its views when the bill was discussed in the Lok Sabha last week. The bill was then sent to a parliamentary committee for review.

“If you are going to steal Waqf land and give it to your industrialist friends, just like you are taking land from our Hindu temples and giving it to your contractor friends, we will not No inappropriate behavior is permitted.

Thackeray also challenged the Election Commission to declare the Maharashtra polls.
