The Election Commission will set up separate polling booths in upper societies.
According to the Election Commission, 20,629 polling stations will be set up for the election, including 7,000 in urban areas and about 13,000 in rural areas.
Ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections in Haryana, the Election Commission on Friday announced that some multi-storey apartment complexes in Gurgaon and other cities in Haryana will have their own polling stations. The EC will set up separate polling booths in high-rise societies in cities such as Sonipat, Gurugram and Faridabad.
According to the Election Commission, 20,629 polling stations will be set up for the election, of which 7,000 are in urban areas and about 13,000 in rural areas. The gazette notification for the Haryana elections will be released on September 5. The deadline for submitting nominations is September 12, reviews will take place on September 13, and the final date for withdrawing nominations is set for September 16.
At a press conference on Friday, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the schedule for the Haryana Assembly elections, which will begin on October 1, 2024. .
According to reports, the state has 2.01 million registered voters, including about 1.06 billion men and 9.5 million women. It is worth noting that 452,000 young voters will vote for the first time. In addition, there are 254,000 registered seniors aged 85 and above in the state, and 150,000 voters with disabilities. More than 10,381 voters are 100 years of age or older.
The election, which will decide the outcome of Haryana's 15th Assembly, will cover all 90 Congress seats in the state. It is worth noting that this year’s elections hold special significance for the residents of the above-mentioned major cities in Haryana.
A similar approach was taken during the recently held Lok Sabha elections, with 52 polling stations set up in 31 upper societies in Gurgaon. A total of 35 election booths have been set up by 22 societies in the Badshahpur Assembly constituency, and a total of 16 election booths have been set up in eight societies in Gurgaon Assembly constituency. Besides, a stall was set up in a society in Sohna Assembly constituency.
